Signs Your Windows May Need Replacing

A single symptom does not always mean the entire window needs replacement. Look for patterns across the glass, sash, frame, hardware, and surrounding wall before deciding.

Operation problems

Windows that bind, no longer stay open, refuse to lock, or have badly worn balances and hardware need inspection. Some are repairable; widespread frame distortion or repeated hardware failure can point toward replacement.

Moisture and seal problems

Fogging between panes suggests insulated-glass seal failure. Water stains around the frame can come from sealant, flashing, roof or wall paths, so the leak source should be identified before installing a new unit.

Deteriorated frames

Soft wood, corrosion, major cracking, loose joints, or movement at the opening can make a full-frame solution more appropriate than a simple insert.
